Do volunteers need an account?+
No. Organizers sign in once. Volunteers tap a magic link, enter a name and email, and they’re on the roster. No password, no invite seat, no app download.
What does “no seat” actually mean?+
You are not billed per volunteer. One organizer account covers the whole crew for an event — seasonal helpers included. When the event is over, rotate the magic-link token and access closes.
How do magic links work?+
Each event has a single secure URL. Share it by text, email, or QR. Anyone with the link can join that event. If a link leaks or the event ends, the organizer can rotate the token so the old URL stops working.
How does QR check-in work?+
Open the kiosk view for your event and put it on a tablet at the door. Volunteers scan the code, enter the same email they used to sign up, and their name appears on the live list. No login wall at the entrance.
Can two people claim the same shift?+
No. Each shift has a capacity. When it’s full, it locks automatically so you don’t double-book a role.
Do you handle waivers and checklists?+
Yes. Upload a waiver PDF once; volunteers download, sign, and send it back from their phone. Shared checklists (safety video, gear pickup, sign-out) update live as people check them off.
Is there a mobile app?+
Not a separate store app. The volunteer portal and check-in flow are built for a phone in one hand. Organizers use the dashboard in a browser.
Who can see volunteer emails?+
Organizers on that event. Volunteers are not asked to create public profiles. See our privacy policy for how long we keep event data and how to ask for deletion.
What does Starter include?+
Starter is free: 1 live event, 25 volunteers, 8 shifts, and 15 tasks. Magic links, QR check-in, and waivers are included. Volunteers never create an account and never pay a seat fee.
How do paid plans and trials work?+
Organizer is $19/month or $190/year (8 events, 150 volunteers per event). Festival is $49/month or $490/year (unlimited). Both include a 14-day free trial. Checkout and invoices are handled by Paddle. Cancel during the trial and you are not charged.
How do I cancel or get a refund?+
Open Billing in the dashboard and use Manage billing, or email hello@noseat.app. Access continues until the end of the period you already paid. Details are on the cancellation and refund policy pages.
